Building a real eCommerce business without relying on Amazon

It is actually possible to build a real, profitable online business. But, just because you can build it from the comfort of your own home, doesn’t mean it’s going to be a comfortable ride. In fact, the entrepreneurial journey is a very uncomfortable one.

But if you’re reading this, it probably means that you’re tired of the nine to five trap we call a job. Even if you have a job you like; you’re still not compensated enough to rationalize being there 10 hours of your day.  Every day…

Truth be told, I wanted to figure out how many hours I worked in a day, but I couldn’t.  It’s hard to differentiate what I do for money and what I do with my time.

That’s a nice feeling to have.  There’s  an incredible sense of freedom that comes with owning every minute of your day.  That feeling is a reward for using your creativity to solve problems.

That’s what this blog is all about.  Solving a problem.  The problem is lack of financial education.

The truth is that making more money won’t solve your problems over a long period of time.  The temporary solution will diminish if you continue your bad habits.

The question was raised with my last post, where I wrote about the possibility of having your Amazon account suspended.

What if your “cheese” was moved? if you will.

What if one day, the business you worked so hard for is no longer producing money?  

Think about it, can you predict if this Amazon dropship business will work in 5 years?  Was it possible 5 years ago?  Who knows?

To succeed in life, you need to be swift on your toes.  Never think that the business you’re currently in is the best business to be in.  Always have your eyes on the “bigger” picture.

Since my last post, readers have been reaching out about alternatives to selling on Amazon.  Just incase Amazon decides to suspend your account.

A great alternative is eBay.  All you have to do is the reverse method of what I’ve been teaching on this blog, so far.

List and sell items on eBay, then have those items dropshipped directly from an Amazon seller.  This isn’t rocket science folks. This market is extremely easy to tap in to.

Below is an example of finding an item on Amazon to sell on eBay.

The below is an example of a medium to high price, compared to other listings on ebay.  The price doesn’t really matter.  You can change the price to anything that will make you a profit.

The trick to selling on eBay is mostly based on your reputation. If you’re new to selling on eBay, it will take some time to build a reliable amount feedback to begin getting a steady stream of sales.

Also, like anything else, it’s a numbers game.  The more items you list, the more likely you are to make a sale.  Keep in mind that eBay limits the amount of items you are able to list, until you have proven yourself a trustworthy seller.

*To list the item for sale click “SELL NOW” where the red arrow is.

*Fill out the form and add a bunch of pictures.  The more pictures, the better.

*List your item for sale.  Wash, rinse, repeat…

I don’t think you quite understand how vastly large this ecommerce market really is. Making money online is inevitable when you educate yourself correctly.

This arbitrage technique was the first technique I learned in drop-shipping.  I learned everything I know about drop-shipping to eBay from Amazon from Ann Sieg.  In December of last year I purchased a video course that she teaches.  Just a few short months later, my blog was born.

If you’re new to selling on eBay, it’s just like when you were new to selling on Amazon.  It’s going to take hundreds of hours of practice before you have a clue what you’re doing.

It’s going to take a lot of time and commitment.  Luckily, we have all the time in the world.  Oh wait, this all ends in a few dozen years.  Hope you’re enjoying the ride.

  1. Jay, Thanks a lot for explaining in detail about how to do drop-shipping from Amazon to eBay. I think everyone in this business needs to diversify as much as possible to reduce the risks of being suspended from any platform. Thanks for sharing the link of Ann Sieg but I don’t see anything related to drop-shipping in her blog. Could you please share the exact link with her training on drop-shipping? Thanks for all your help!
