It’s Halloween night 2012. I’m pulled over and arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol. It had been nine years since my last DUI arrest. I thought I had learned my lesson. Honestly, I was thinking with a different organ that night. I’ll give you a hint, it wasn’t my brain and it wasn’t my heart.
As I was coming from a Halloween party, I was wearing a costume. I thought it would be funny to dress up as Jesse, the cowgirl from toy story. I was right, it was hilarious. Picture this… I’m a short, brown, Cuban guy. Wearing red cowgirl boots, a red cowgirl hat, short-shorts/ over-alls, and sharpie-drawn freckles on my face. Needless to say the arresting officer did the right thing; in the name of comedy alone.
Because this was my second DUI in under ten years, I was immediately taken into county jail rather than a holding cell. After about twelve hours they call my name. I think I’m getting released, but I’m actually being transferred into general population.
At this point, I’m dead sober and no longer find it humorous. The only good news is that I got to change out of my cowgirl costume and into a blue jumpsuit. I had about another twelve hours to rethink some life decisions before my roommate posted bail.
At that point in my life, I was toward the end of an interview process to enter the police academy. I guess I can kiss that dream goodbye. Fuck it! I’d make a terrible cop anyway. I’d have no problem letting you off the hook with a verbal warning. I’d confiscate your drugs and send you on your way.
…I’m making a living as a mediocre carpenter, and also failing at investing in real estate.
The financial burden of court fees, attorney fees and alcohol education classes was taking a toll on me; as I went deeper into credit card debt.
Two years of depression and deep introspection later. I was finally beginning to put everything behind me. Then I tore my calf muscle playing basketball and found myself unable to physically work for the first time in my life. Real estate was going okay, but not well enough to support myself.
I began looking for alternative ways to make money online.
One day I came across “the smart passive income” podcast. I chose a title that caught my attention… Buying stuff and selling it on Amazon (For 6-Figures a year)
Pat Flynn had on a guest who was talking about Amazon’s FBA program. She said she goes to retail stores, such as walgreens and costco.
She buys out the Clearance racks, boxes everything up and sends it into the Amazon warehouse; Where they store it until it sells. Then they box and ship it to your customer. Leaving you with enough profit to make it all worthwhile.
I was skeptical, but I tried it. To my surprise, it worked within the first few days of Amazon receiving my first shipment.
From then on, I started investing more time on educating myself about ecommerce.
It’s been nearly 5 months since I started the “create a profitable online store” course. I am completely submerged in it.
My first month, January 2015 my Amazon sales were a little over $3,600.
In April, 2015, my Amazon sales boosted to over $25,000. That’s been my best month so far. I’m expecting big sales for the holiday season.
The funny thing is that the “selling on Amazon” section of the course is probably the smallest section in the whole course. Yet I find it to be tremendously valuable.
The selling secrets shared by Steve’s guest, Brad Degraw alone, has paid for this course a hundred times over.
Not to mention the sections on finding a niche and sourcing products.
I’m currently working on sourcing my first product from China. Six months ago, I didn’t even know that was a real possibility for people like me.
I’ll tell you, it’s not just the easy, dumbed-down explanations by Steve that make this course so easy for me to understand.
I credit my success, mostly to Steve’s ability to make me feel lazy. I’m not trying to toot the guy’s horn, but the fact of the matter is that Steve is constantly adding new, useful information to the “create a profitable online store” website.
On top of that he runs this blog, a podcast, has a family to attend to and a full time job too. And somehow, he never leaves me hanging when I shoot him an email.
He has, like ten more responsibilities than I do. Knowing this fact makes re-evaluate what I do with my time. Making me realize that I’m thinking too small.
When I started my Amazon store, my goal was to make $100 per week. Then $1,000 per month. Now I realize that I’m limited by my own imagination.
My new goal is $80,000 per month. That’s about as big a number as I can think of right now.
I’ve also set different goals for myself.
I have set out to help ten people make $1,000 in monthly revenue. I’m starting to think outside the box. I’m learning to use my imagination when it comes to business.
Never having written one before, I started writing a blog of my own.
I teach people a unique arbitrage technique that takes advantage of both eBay and Amazon markets.
Operantly, very few people know that you can sell things on Amazon and have those items drop-shipped directly from eBay.
This technique and the “profitable online store” course has helped me profit nearly $6,000 in the month of April.
Recently, I was interviewed by Ann Sieg, Creator of the eCommerce arbitrage system. She asked me if I felt like the sky was the limit. My response was simple. I feel like I’m playing hopscotch from galaxy to galaxy. The sky is inevitable.
See a screenshot of my Amazon sales spreadsheet for the month of April below.
Every single one of the transactions below was drop-shipped directly from eBay to my Amazon buyer.
Over the past few years I’ve gone through some hardship. No harder than anybody else, just my own. I’m so grateful I was able maintain my sanity long enough to get passed the rough patches and hard knocks.
Not to say there won’t be new challenges to overcome, but now I have the tools to consistently improve myself.
Tools like blogs, podcasts, and endless amounts of priceless information available to all of us with just a few clicks of the mouse. Those, along with a daily meditation routine to keep everything compartmentalized.
We’re living in an amazingly special time in history, a time where we can actually make giant, positive ripples on this planet. Ripples that can lead to fulfilling our wildest dreams.
I’m beginning to realize the power I have over my mind and spirit.
Sometimes you may have to buy something from Amazon. Might as well click on that link too. I would really appreciate it.
