To sum it up, we’re selling on Amazon and drop-shipping from eBay. Sounds silly, right?
Well, the money in my bank account isn’t silly. It’s real and tangible. And it’s being generated throughout the day, every day.
You can do the same. All you need is patience, and the ability to focus on the task at hand.
In previous blogs, I’ve discussed, in detail how to find profitable items to list on Amazon from eBay.
Today, I’m going to share how you can expand your business to the next level.
Getting approved for a restricted category is easier than you think. Let’s discuss…
As you can see below, I have applied and been approved to sell in several of Amazon’s categories.

There are different requirements for each category.
For the following example, we will be applying for the “automotive parts & accessories” category.
- Fill out the form similar to the image above.
- For the company website; insert a direct link to your seller’s eBay store.
- Submit the application and wait for a response.
The requirements for each category vary.
To get approved for the “Grocery & Gourmet Foods” category, I had to submit 3 receipts from costco, proving purchase of grocery items.
Strangely enough, I submitted the same receipts to get approval for the “Beauty and Personal Care” categories.
- Each of the receipts have to be over $100 in value.
- You need to submit 3 to get approved. You can always return whatever you purchase for a full refund. Costco is real easy when handling returns.
In several cases I’ve been able to find canned foods at a special price. Then sold the food using Amazon’s FBA service. And still made a small profit.
Your experience for getting approved for each category will be different. It might even be different from what I’ve described above.
There are many benefits that come with getting approval to sell in various categories.
- You can explore a vast amount of niches and narrow down which niche suits you best.
- Selling in different categories makes you more of a professional seller in the eyes of Amazon.
The only way to ensure you get approval for whatever category you desire, is to be persistent.
Like in anything else you pursue in life, it might not come right away.
I got denied more than 20 times in many categories, before I was approved.
In many cases I was denied for submitting the same receipts. The next day I submitted them again.
The idea is that Amazon employees are like anybody else. Some are very strict and some are more lenient.
If you really want to receive approval for any category, keep submitting requests until you get approved.
Don’t be discouraged if you get denied.
There are no penalties for getting denied, and you only need to receive approval once.
Many experts believe that it won’t be this easy to receive approval from Amazon in the future. I’ve read many forum posts that suggest Amazon will make it much more difficult to get approval for other categories.
We might as well take advantage of this opportunity while it’s still available.
Don’t forget that growing your business will be a lifelong commitment.
